Aah the age old excuses.
~It wasn't me
~I was hacked
~It was innocent chat
~I thought she was older
~I only did it once
~I was having a laugh
~I wasn't gonna do anything
Anyway, you get the jist.....
These excuses are what we hear on EVERY sting. No matter what they say, we know that our evidence is concrete and they always crumble and admit it. The teams that do this work hard to ensure that no matter what excuse they come out with we can untangle their lies.
The predators manipulate not just decoys but real children. YOUR children.
They make families victims by lying to them, occasionally blaming family members or friends for using their accounts.
Truth is, the lies they tell always catch up with them.
When police carry out a section 18/32 on the predators properties they cease all electronic devices that they have use of/access to connect to the internet with. These are then sent off to have a digital download (this can sometimes take up to 6 months depending on the force and any back log they may have) and all chats that have taken place or in some cases, been deleted are retrieved and traced back to their i.p address.
We update the page with any information we receive from the police or witness care as soon as we can. Sometime it can be a matter of weeks, or months but in more serious cases where there are real children involved, it can take over a year but bear with us as we can only update you when we've been updated.
We never forget about the ones we catch and we hope that you don't either. The aim of what we do is to raise awareness, highlight the dangers of online predators and to help make sure that you do your part, as a parent/carer to keep your child(ren) safe online.
